What are Text Editors?

Text Editors are programs for just that - Editing text.

For the sake of consistancy, We will only use Notepad on Windows (Top Left) whenever possible.
For those interested, (Top Left) Notepad, (Top Right) Visual Studio Code, (Bottom Left) Notepad++, (Bottom Right) Sublime.

How do I open Notepad on Windows 10?

  1. Press the search/cortana icon on the taskbar.
  2. Type in "notepad".
  3. Choose "Notepad" under "Apps"
  4. All Done!

How do I save files using Notepad?

  1. Press "File"
  2. Press "Save"
  3. All Done!

  1. Press Control+S to save.
  2. All Done!

How do I change a .txt file into another file type?

  1. Open the file in notepad.
  2. Press "File"
  3. Press "Save as"
  4. Change "Save as type" to "All files (*.*)"
  5. Alter the "File Name" to be appended by the file extension you want. (Ex: "MyFile.html" for HTML files)
  6. All Done!

How do I copy/cut and then paste text?

  1. Select/highlight the text you want to copy/cut.
  2. Right-Click on the selected text.
  3. Press the "Copy" or "Cut" option.
  4. Right-Click where you wish to paste.
  5. Press the "Paste" option.
  6. All Done!
